The idea of the show is interesting, but the execution was poor.Eye Candy is an American thriller television series that premiered on MTV on 12th January, 2015. It seems to me that VJ liked the role and wanted to do it, but didn't quite know her limits as an actor (there are plenty of other actresses that would have been a poor fit in this role too). While the overall concept of the plot was interesting (tinder serial killer), and even some individual episodes were pretty good, the script writing was pretty dismal as well. You cast VJ to say "hey look, "hackers" can be pretty too," and then you get that guy to contrast? The big fat friend hacker guy was obnoxious as well. Clearly just cast for his looks, which made him completely unbelievable as a detective. He looked like a member of the Spanish national soccer team and just sounded dumb every time he opened his mouth. The casting around her was horrible, particularly the male lead cop guy. Given that, I think VJ did what she should could with the role and script. Given all the shit that happened to the main character in Eye Candy, VJ was just too clean cut. or Gossip Girl, but this show needed someone a little more Veronica Mars-like. I think VJ would be fine, if not great in a high school/young adult show ala The O.C. While I think she was completely mis-cast for this role, I don't think her acting was close to being the biggest problem with this show.
